About       us:
We have  been owned by Collies for over thirty years and have been breeding  for over twenty. We usually have but one or two litters a year and are  proud to have produced over one hundred Canadian,  over thirty  American and Mexican champions from these few puppies. In addition, many Tallywood Collies are Herding  Instinct Certified, have their Temperament Test degree and some have done  very well in obedience.  We even have two dogs with their Tracking  titles, thanks to Donna Smith and an Agility titled dog (way to go Diego and Lynn!) We have the honor of owning the top Best in Show winning smooth collies of all time in Canada, and have had five  generations of Best In Show collies. Our smooths have attained #1 status in Canada eight times to date. Our rough Collies have won major  awards at the Collie Club of Canada National specialty, and we have had  the honor of winning Best in Specialty there three times. In 2001 we were  honored by the distinction of gong Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the  Collie Club of American National specialty on Am.Can.Tallywood Transcendence, a blue rough bitch!  In 2004  we took our first all breed Best In Show with a rough  courtesy of Ch.Tallywood At First Light, a nine month old puppy!!  Many of our roughs have been in the top ten in Canada and multiple champion producers. In 2006, Am.Can.Ch.Tallywood Fashionista ended the year as the #6 Rough Collie in the US!  The jewel on our show crown can ini 2008, when Am.Can.Ch.Tallywood Transcendental was awarded the coveted Best Of Breed at the Collie Club of American National Specialty.   We are just as proud of our many  pets who never see the show ring, but make strong contributions to  families all over the country. There are Tallywood Collies all over Canada and the United States.

Puppies at Tallywood are raised in the house and aided by our three toy poodles and too many  cats.   All of this helps to ensure the pups are well socialized to people,  cats and animals as we feel an outgoing  temperament is a must. Our puppies are raised on twenty acres outside of  Innisfail and spend a lot of time romping in the pasture, which helps to build strong, sturdy bodies and inquisitive natures.
A Tallywood Collie can represent seven generations of our own breeding or be a first generation outcross. Our foundation stock is from the great Gambit  Collies in California and we routinely visit the U.S. to keep our type  strong, as we continue to redefine our interpretation of the Collie. Our dogs are known for beautiful outlines, skull, profile, strong bodies,  sound movement and outgoing attitudes
We would like to thank Linda Robbins and Barbara O'Keefe for allowing us to utilize the best of Gambit in our breeding program. Thank you for Ch.Gambit's Traceaway HC, Am. Can. Ch. Gambit's Restless State and Am.Can.Ch. Gambit's A Hurricane Brew'n ROM, and for letting Am.Can.Ch.Gambit's Chill Factor, Am.Can.Ch. Gambit's Freeze Frame HC ROM , Ch.Gambit's Victorian Law,  Am.Ch.Gambit's Trick Of Light  ROM and Am.Ch. Gambit's Lost My Halo to come to Canada to play with us.
On the smooth side, we would never have become involved with this wonderful variety without the generosity of Ramana Boulter, Crossheart Collies. By  sharing Ch. Crossheart Wings Of A Dove TT, Am. Can. Mex. Int. SKC. Ch. Crossheart Machine Gun Kelly HC and Am. Can. Ch. Crossheart Moonlight Raid HC TT, she has given us a strong and beautiful foundation for our smooths.
TheCollie breed lost a great friend when Ramana passed away in August 2000.   We can never begin to thank her for everything she did, and probably  didn't tell her often enough how much she meant to us, but somehow I'm sure she knows.  Ramana is up there with Gunner, Girl, Feather,  Annie, Bobbie and all the others that she loved dearly.  We will miss her every single day, and remember her everytime we look into the faces of  Blair, Shiver, Tryst, Macy and Triscuit, and into forever.
